Separate connections for separate functions
The satellite board uses separate connections for voltage sensing, temperature sensing, and communications. The voltage sense wires are kept separate from the signal connections, and the communications link uses distinct input and output connections.
On the master, an automotive waterproof 18-pin bulkhead connector carries the battery pack's connection to the rest of the vehicle. Internal connections then serve the pack components inside the enclosure.
Balancing designed for the duty cycle
BetterBMS satellites use a low-resistance 10-ohm balancing path with dual parallel 2510 bleed resistors. The resistors are located on the underside of the satellite board for heatsinking, and the design includes four board temperature sensors to watch for local hot spots during balancing.
Pack capacity, thermal paths, mounting, and expected balancing behavior should be considered together. EVDrive can review the application when a project needs a more aggressive balancing plan.
Protection at the sense input
Each satellite voltage-sense input is fused. This is intended to protect the battery module and sense wiring if a short develops at the board or conductive material contacts the circuit improperly.
Pack integration is not a board-selection exercise alone. The enclosure layout, harness routing, thermal plan, current and isolation sensing, contactor strategy, and vehicle interface all affect the final configuration.
